"Can PAX help RIXS? An alternative method to measure Resonant Inelastic X-Ray Scattering"

Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) has become a mature technique, with dedicated instruments in operation, in construction, or planned in many facilities including LCLS-II.  Several challenges, however, limit the performance of traditional grating-based RIXS: very small angular acceptance, state of the art instrumentation, and exceptional stability, to name a few.  I will present an alternative method for measuring RIXS called Photoelectron spectrometry for Analysis of X-rays (PAX).  It takes advantage of the dual nature of the photoelectron, which can be used to carry information about an unknown source of x-rays.  I will show results from a pilot study at LCLS and outline future opportunities."
