Event Details:
In the talk I will discuss the use of coherent light to access structural dynamics of materials by photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). Originally, PCS was an optical laser light scattering technique but with the advent of 3rd generation synchrotron sources X-ray PCS
(XPCS) could be developed. XPCS was first demonstrated in 1995 at ESRF and today the technique is widely used to study dynamic of condensed matter on the nano-scale. Sources like the LCLS provide exciting new options for all coherent X-ray scattering techniques and in the talk I discuss the possibilities and challenges of implementing XPCS at X-ray free-electron lasers.
