From Creation to Operation: A Closer Look at the Crystallinity of MAPbI3 Perovskite Photovoltaic Films

Program Description

In the past few years, both interest in and efficiencies of MAPbI3 photovoltaics have increased at an amazing rate with device efficiencies now in the range of 20%. We have studied the detailed crystallographic properties of these materials from creation to operation using a number of in-situ techniques at SSRL.  This includes in-situ annealing of films to create the MAPbI3 absorber layer, detailed characterization of the crystallinity of such films, and measurements of the crystal structure of full devices under operating conditions. In this talk, we will explore the crystal structure of these materials at all stages and discuss implications for device performance.
