Directing Polymers Using Nanoparticles

Program Description

The properties and applications of polymers owe as much to the processing route as they do to the ingenuity of the molecule maker. This presentation focuses on how we can exploit photon sources to directly probe the polymer structure during processing to enable the design of materials with target properties and applications. In particular, we will explore how the inclusion of small fractions of differently shaped nanoparticles can be used to direct the structure of the polymers. We will confront the limitations that current instrumentation presents and explore the challenges that remain.
