Few-fs electron transfer in prototypical donor-acceptor molecules
Event Details:
Speaker: Federico Vismarra, Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI)
Program Description:
The exposure of molecules to attosecond extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) pulses offers a unique opportunity to study the early stages of coupled electron-nuclear dynamics with the highest achievable time resolution. Using isolated attosecond pulses generated by a table-top high-order harmonics source, and a few-cycle-infrared field, we investigate experimentally and theoretically a sub-10-fs electron transfer process initiated by prompt ionization in prototypical donor-acceptor optoelectronic molecules. New exciting opportunities for attosecond physics in molecules also lie in developing different experimental schemes, like UV-pump and attosecond-probe (either XUV or soft-XRAY). Therefore, as the last part of this talk, our experimental effort in this direction will be presented.
