FLASH - Today and Tomorrow

Program Description
Since 2016 FLASH is operating two almost independent FEL’s, FLASH1 and FLASH2, in parallel. In particular, FLASH2 with variable gap undulators offers interesting new possibilities for user experiments. Furthermore, we have recently commissioned short pulse as well as double pulse operation of FLASH. On the instrument side we have also developed new endstations for high-repetition rate time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. In the talk I will discuss some of the new opportunities and present examples of recent results. For the mid-and long-term future of FLASH we are discussing a number of possible upgrades. I will also briefly report on the current status of these upgrade plans.
