Stimulated x-ray emission in molecular gases
Event Details:
Program Description
I will present our resent theoretical results on stimulated x-ray emission processes in diatomic molecules using XFEL sources. We employ advantages of forward scattering geometry allowing for strong amplification of the x-ray emission signal and high-gain x-ray lasing in molecular gases [1]. The spectrum of the amplified x-ray emission depends dramatically on the gain-length product, the molecular alignment and the vibrational wave packet dynamics. We show that despite their overall broad bandwidth, SASE XFELs enable a high resolution of the resonant x-ray scattering process in a statistical sense. Vibrationally resolved spectra can be reconstructed from an ensemble of single-shot spectra by covariance mapping.
